Meet Dawn

Dawn Wallace brings to Brainworks over 25 years of extensive clinical counselling experience working with individuals, couples and families. She joined the Brainworks social work team in 2017, and covers the North Bay region and surrounding area. Having spent over 20 years working in the near north region, Dawn is very knowledgeable with the spectrum of services and resources available throughout the area.

Caring, kind and respectful, Dawn strives to make meaningful connections with her clients, getting to know them and the circumstances they are facing at a comfortable pace. She collaborates with her clients to develop and meet realistic, achievable and maintainable goals by helping them to focus on inner strengths and discover new ones they never knew they had. Then she guides and supports clients through making the changes they need to make for optimal functioning.

Dawn’s Practice Areas

The social worker will assist the client and family members to develop the skills to cope with the many challenges associated with their disability or medical condition and to make the necessary adjustments to changing circumstances. Information on other community resources will be provided as appropriate.
Using sound behavioural principles, and empirically supported interventions our Sleep Tight© program is a practical, four-session treatment program, individually delivered by a regulated health professional.

Dawn’s Bio

Dawn is very accomplished at family crisis management and has extensive experience in children’s mental health. She has spent many evenings with clients and their families in the ER providing support and completing crisis assessments. She has provided educational presentations and resources to families to help them better understand what is happening with their loved one and some of the challenging behaviours they are coping with. Dawn helps clients realize that they have special qualities that can make a positive difference in their lives. She also helps them believe in themselves and provides them with coping skills and strategies they can use in everyday life. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Training (DBT) and mindfulness-based therapies are just some of the effective treatment modalities she implements in her work.

Dawn is very passionate about her chosen vocation. Her resourcefulness and client-centred mindset motivates clients think outside the box to find unique solutions to address personal concerns. Through dedicated, innovative and creative approaches, she helps them find more effective ways to cope, and helps them build on their successes until they are accomplishing more than they ever thought possible.
