Lani brings with her a degree in physical education, a post graduate diploma in Therapeutic Recreation, and Bachelor of Teaching degree from the University of Western Sydney, Australia, with an additional qualification in Special Education from Western University. Her knowledge, skills and experience are well suited to a career in rehabilitation. Joining Brainworks in 2006, Lani works out of our London office, in the capacity of senior rehabilitation therapist and project coordinator serving clients throughout south western Ontario.
With over 17 years combined clinical experience in the field of recreation, education and rehabilitation, Lani has worked closely with pediatric, youth, adult and geriatric populations who are affected by acquired brain injury, mental health, cognitive communication and mood disorders. Well versed in various treatment modalities and with comprehensive knowledge of brain injury and development, she has understanding of the associated functional, physical, cognitive and psychological consequences various injuries can present to an individual and their family.
Knowledgeable of neuro-behavioural management, applied behaviour analysis, therapeutic recreation and trained in CBIS, and CogMed, Lani incorporates these approaches into her service delivery. While her scope is diverse, service delivery focuses predominantly on Lani’s strengths in academic support, behavioural activation, community integration, functional skill development and activities of daily living.
Engaged, humourous and approachable, Lani is an effective team player with admirable interpersonal skills. She adapts with ease to the individual needs of her clients, modifying her approach as needed, and quickly establishes strong rapport with clients, their families and treatment professionals. Her high level of energy, commitment, and clinical experience are definite assets to those she serves.
Mindful each client is unique, Lani encompasses a collaborative approach, working cooperatively with her clients and their health care team to effectively integrate goals, strategies and learning opportunities into successful rehabilitation programming.
