With a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, along with leadership, teaching and rehabilitation experience Kevin has an established foundation for a career in community based rehabilitation. Joining Brainworks in 2016 as Rehabilitation Therapist, he provides direct support to clients in Owen Sound and surrounding areas.
Kevin brings with him a strong focus on health, wellness and balanced lifestyles along with transferable skill sets well suited for a rehabilitation therapist. His background in kinesiology coupled with experience in a physiotherapy clinic, a classroom setting and as a community outreach football coach have exposed him to a diverse group of individuals and associated treatment modalities. His clinical experience is comprised of children, youth and adults living with effects of acquired brain injury and physical learning and psycho-emotional limitations.
Positive and compassionate in nature Kevin routinely engages in a collaborative approach to program planning and intervention allowing his clients a sense of empowerment and autonomy. His ability to connect and interact with others is natural and fluid, and as an effective leader finds it easy to establish a therapeutic rapport with others. Patient, understanding and highly motivated to promote change, both physically and emotionally, Kevin is an engaged multi-disciplinary team member who consults with health practitioners to evaluate client goals, plans of care, intervention strategies, all to facilitate thorough individualized client centered service delivery.
As rehabilitation therapist Kevin supports his clients through the development of functional ADL’s, promotes behavioural activation and participation in purposeful social recreation endeavors, introduces and encourages the use of compensatory strategies and reinforces the need for structure, routine and consistency. Mindful we are each unique in our journey, Kevin serves to identify his client’s strengths and weaknesses, and appropriately modifies his clinical approach as needed to meet their changing needs.
