FSCO Report:
The Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) published a report titled “Report on the Five Year Review of Automobile Insurance March 31, 2009”. This report contains a number of disturbing recommendations which, if approved by the Government of Ontario, will greatly affect the funding available through automobile insurance medical rehabilitation benefits for people injured in motor vehicle accidents.
There are several areas of the report that are of concern. If approved, these recommendations would significantly impact the efficiency of how treatment plans are prepared, eliminate the right to appeal an insurer’s decision and markedly reduce the cap for medical and rehabilitation benefits for non-catastrophic claims.
A consortium of health care professionals has launched a website Feeling Lucky providing tools to assist anyone wishing to review the report and make comments to MPPs before the report is adopted and changes are made.
Arden McGregor wrote a Letter to the Editor on the topic in the London Free Press … check it out here
