Helmets on Kids

Brainworks joined forces with the Brain Injury Association of Windsor/ Essex County(BIAWE) in an initiative called "Helmets on Kids" purchase bicycle helmets for children who come from families that cannot afford bicycle helmets or that do not place importance on the purchase of a helmet for their children. On August 15, 2009 Brainworks donated a monetary amount to support this worthy cause.

Behaviorual Activation

Brainworks Director, Arden McGregor and Dr. Sarah Vernon-Scott presented Brainworks’ behavioural activation program, "Moving Forward" at the ABI Network Conference in Toronto on November 3rd, 2008. Behavioural Activation is an empirically supported treatment for depression. This approach reduces depressive symptoms by increasing exposure to reinforcing activities and promoting a sense of mastery and accomplishment. This program can be customized to fit the needs of a wide variety of clients who are experiencing depressive symptoms, including those experiencing chronic pain, those who have sustained a brain injury, and those adjusting to life after a motor vehicle collision. Check out the details on our site at Behavioural Activation.

In October, 2007 one of our clients, along with his rehabilitation therapist and one of his teachers, gave a presentation at the Provincial ABI Conference in Kitchener. The subject of that presentation was videotherapy.
